Avromi Freilich - World renowned Chazzan sings at Concerts, Chupa's and Bar Mitzva's

Avromi Freilich, a young star of the cantorial world and a true gem of the concert stage, grew up in London and began his singing career there as a child prodigy at the early age of ten, when he performed a cantorial piece before an audience of 1500 at a family wedding of the late Chief Rabbi, Lord Immanuel Jakobovits. Foreseeing a great singing career in his future, at the age of thirteen the famed Cantor Reuben Turner took him under his personal tutelage. Growing up, Avromi learned to sing bel-canto style and eventually decided to follow in the musical path of his grandfather’s family who were all great cantors in their own right.

Avromi studied cantorial singing and voice in Israel and then London. In 1994 at the young age of 21, he was appointed as full time chazan at the Prestigious Hampstead Garden Synagogue, Norrice Lea, where he continues to inspire his congregation at the weekly Shabbat services. Avromi possesses a beautiful lyric tenor voice with a unique richness and timbre. Avromi is beloved by the many hundreds of congregants who appreciate the beauty and sincerity of his davening.

Avromi prides himself as a chazan who understands the need to advance with the times and encourages congregational participation at a unique and uplifting level.

Avromi’s singing attracts a full shul on a regular basis and both community members and visitors feel compelled to fill the chambers with song and spirit under Avromi’s leadership.

On special occasions such as Yamim Tovim new faces from neighboring communities can often be seen amongst the pews keen to be inspired by Avromi’s warm and uplifting Tefilot. Subsequently, he has been invited as guest chazan by some of the most important congregations in Europe, Israel and the USA.

As an internationally renowned concert artist, Avromi is in constant demand on the concert stage as well as guest appearances throughout the world thrilling Jewish audiences wherever he goes. His legacy speaks for itself as he has held the same position ever since he began in 1994. Considered by many as the premier cantorial pulpit in the United Kingdom today, his awesome vocal talent and spiritual guidance continues to inspire thousands of congregants.

During his career, Avromi has performed in concerts with renowned cantors including his teacher Cantor Moshe Schulhof as well as with many of his senior contemporaries such as Benzion Miller, David Bagley, Moshe Stern, Naftali Herstik, Chaim Adler, Binyamin Muller and Yitchak Meir Helfgot.

Although many years their junior, Avromi stands proudly shoulder to shoulder on the concert stage demonstrating his maturity and superb quality of singing.Avromi’s singing reflects his lovely nature.

Just as he is sensitive, compassionate yet full of joi de vivre, so his tefilot combine his commitment and devotion to Judaism with a determination to involve and delight all who are privileged to hear him.Avromi is a qualified and practicing paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and heads The Armitage Clinic for children with speech and language disorders.
